Air Canada: Daily direct flights between Peru and Canada during peak season

Air Canada will launch a new Toronto-Lima service in Jun-Sep 2018, thus providing daily direct flights between the Peruvian capital and the North American country. The move adds to the airline’s existing flights on the same route.

“A new temporary service will complement the four non-stop flights between Lima and Toronto. Plus, if we consider the two Lima-Montreal flights launched last December, flights to Canada will operate seven days a week,” Air Canada Sales Manager Patricia Lucar stated.

The fifth route is scheduled to run from June 27 to September 28 in order to meet the increased passenger demand throughout Canada’s busy summer season. According to Lucar, daily flights to Canada are very attractive to the corporate market, considering the potential investment ties between the two nations, mainly in the mining sector.

Priority market

For her part, Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Tourism Director Maria Soledad Acosta affirmed that Canada constitutes a priority market for Peru, due to the increasing number of tourists to the Inca nation, which went up 23% over the past five years.

“We believe the Canadian market may continue to grow the same way as our country does in infrastructure, connectivity, and services,” she indicated.

Acosta said Peru offers a multicultural and biodiverse destination, a diverse geographical area with more than 2,000 Km of coastline, mountains above 6,000-meter altitude, deserts surrounded by high sand dunes, and a vast Amazon area. All these places are ideal for practicing adventure sports, she added.
