The Cushuro, the food of the future

The cushuro or also known as murmunta, is an algae considered as the food of the future, because specialists say it has more protein than meat, more calcium than milk and more iron than a bowl of lentils.

They even claim that their amount of protein is double or triple than kiwicha and quinoa.


The cushuro is found in the Andean lagoons more than 3000 meters high and some experts already consider it as the most nutritious food of the moment. Its properties are beneficial in many ways, as it helps strengthen bones, detoxifies the body and provides collagen to the skin to improve its elasticity and strengthen the hair root. Some even claim that it can save a person from anemia or malnutrition.

This food that grows more than 3000 meters high, can be found in Lima at a low cost. In addition, it is so versatile that it can be used in different dishes, whether salty or sweet.
