
Peru to Host the 128th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council
Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism announced that the country will host the 128th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council
On last 7 th of July the citadel Machu Picchu commemorate 12 years of its designation as one of the new wonders of the world. On July 7th, 2007, the Chinese wall, Taj Mahal in India, Petra in Jordan, and The Roman Coliseum in Italy, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil and The Mayan city of Chichén Itzá in Mexico were also chosen.
The aforementioned places were chosen by more than 100 million votes, which were presented at a ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal.
The central day of the celebration was carried out various activities in the city of Cusco. In the early hours of the day a mass was held in the church of the district, to then celebrate an act of raising the national flag and flag of Cusco.
The celebration is tradition in the city of Cusco, each year a performance is carried out by hundreds of actors wearing typical Inca clothes, the Inti Raymi lasts for 1 day and the main role is assumed by the priest Willaq Umo, the Inca nobility, the Inca and his wife coya.
Then a civic parade was developed in which civil, military and religious authorities, school delegations, public and private entities, and neighborhood organizations participated.
The celebrations culminated with an ancestral ritual of tribute to the Pachamama to thank her generosity with the population and ask her to continue blessing her with fertile harvests and water supply.
