The renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay and his adventure in the Sacred Valley of the Incas

Last year on December, the chef arrived at Cusco to record a chapter of his new program Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted.

Accompanied by Peruvian Chef Virgilio Martinez, Ramsay arrived at the Sacred Valley after having climbed the imposing Peruvian Andes through iron steps adhered to the mountains. Then, relax on a rock shelf to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Sacred Valley and a traditional Andean sandwich: dried alpaca meat.

In statements, Ramsay mentions “Traveling off the beaten path with National Geographic has been a fantastic experience, as well as connecting with the locals to learn and share incredible stories of unique traditions, delicacies and what sometimes needs to be done to harvest native ingredients “Also, I add” I have learned much more filming this series than in the last 10 years”.

In chapter number 1: Peru, we will see how Ramsay is captivated by Peruvian culture, its recipes, flavors, peoples, the same ones that will inspire him to create new recipes. One of the experiences that the chef will live will be to cook in a clay oven, since he had not planned any of that and it is the Peruvian Virgilio who shows him the outdoor kitchen. In addition, the challenges and fatigue that will face when being on more than 5 thousand meters above sea level. Ramsay, will climb cliffs, big trees and fish in the Huaypo lagoon. The Briton will also taste local food, such as worms extracted from cactus, native potatoes, chicha de jora and guinea pig meat.

The unexplored program aims to highlight the Andean ingredients and cooking techniques and Chef Ramsay accepts the challenge and notes that the “Sacred Valley is like an oasis at high altitude, and it is time to put it on a plate”.
