Tourism in Lake Titicaca is restarted after more than 100 days of quarantine

Today the lake transport service to the islands of the Uros, Amantani and Taquile was reactivated. The boatmen were trained to comply with the biosecurity protocols.

The tourist service to visit the Uros, Amantani and Taquile islands, in the Lake Titicaca, was restarted in the city of Puno, as confirmed by the former leader of the boatmen who transport passengers to the dock, Agustín Ramos.

The former leader said that, for a week, the boatmen are being trained to comply with the biosecurity protocols and thus provide transportation service to tourists who visit the interior of the Incas´ Sacred Lake.

“Today we are going to see if there are any passengers and resume little by little. We are totally down, we have no economic income,” said Ramos.

Tickets were increased for local visitors who wish to go to the Uros island, due to the distance that must be maintained to avoid the spread of the new coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the lake transportation service to the Amantaní and Taquile islands has been normalized for the transfer of local inhabitants.

In addition, the control of boat services is the responsibility of the members of the Navy.
