Tourist Destinations to Visit in Peruvian North

The Peruvian north is a place with its own geographical characteristics, consisting of dry forests, a desert coastal strip and high jungle. In addition, it is full of historical sites that have achieved great tourist positioning.

Among the emblematic destinations that are recommended to visit and be dazzled with its various attractions are the Chan Chan archaeological complex, Huaca of Sun and Moon, El Brujo complex and the Amazon region with the stony fortress of Kuelap as its most appreciated tourist jewel.

Chan Chan:  The citadel and ruins of Chan Chan are located in the Moche Valley, facing the sea, halfway between the resort of Huanchaco and the city of Trujillo. It is the largest adobe-built city in America. The complex consists of nine walled citadels, among which the Nik An walled complex stands out, most of which the illustrations it possesses are related to water and sea, fish as well as pelicans.

Huaca of Moon ad Sun:  Archaeological complex, considered a Moche sanctuary that represents the capital of Mochica culture. The Huaca of Sun was built for administrative purposes, in the form of a stepped pyramid with large terraces and platforms. Huaca of the Moon, said construction stands out for having overlapping temples, ceremonial altars, since for the Moche culture sacrifices were of vital importance. The huaca also preserves murals with figures of condor, foxes, fishermen and snakes mostly intact.

El Brujo archaeological complex:  It is one of the most important on the north coast of our country, located 60 km north of the city of Trujillo. In such an important archaeological complex was the tomb and the mummified body of the ruling Moche the Lady of Cao.

Archaeological Site La Fortaleza de Kuelap:  Important pre-Inca archeological site located in the northeastern Andes of Peru, in the Province of Luya, was built by the Chachapoyas culture. Large architectural stone complex characterized by its monumental condition, with a large artificial platform. Its colossal walls and complex interior architecture are evidences of its function as a well-organized population set, which includes administrative, religious, ceremonial and permanent residence spaces.
