Colca Valley and Canyon and the City of Arequipa obtain the international Safe Travels seal
Arequipa has two tourist destinations: Arequipa City, Valley and Colca Canyon, with the distinction of being a safe place to visit.
Let’s celebrate with Arequipa! The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) awarded the international Safe Travels seal to two tourist destinations in the Arequipa region: Colca Valley/Colca Canyon and Arequipa city, which guarantees that they comply with biosecurity protocols and are safe of COVID-19.
TEAMWORK
It should be noted that the awarding of the seal is part of a joint effort between Mincetur and regional and local authorities and the private sector. In this way, information was collected, as well as the verification of compliance with the protocols. In addition, technical support was provided for the development and implementation of surveillance plans and biosecurity measures for tourist attractions, inspections and monitoring actions for tourism service providers with the competent entities.DESTINATIONS AND THEIR TOURIST ROUTES

REACTIVATION OF TOURISM
Deputy Minister Lyda García commented that this tourism recognition is the first in the world in terms of health and safety, before COVID-19. And that is why the reactivation of tourism is fundamental, but it must go hand in hand with strict compliance with biosecurity protocols.
Having the Safe Travels seal opens the door for more visitors to these destinations to feel safe, but we must remember that we must also comply with the civic duty of respecting biosecurity protocols for tourism. So, now you know, Arequipa is waiting for you! Visit it responsibly.
