Chavín de Huántar recognised as the thirteenth ‘Pueblo con Encanto’
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) recognised the town of Chavín de Huántar as the thirteenth ‘Charming Town of Peru’ through Vice-Ministerial Resolution No. 0048-2025-MINCETUR/VMT, published in the official gazette El Peruano.
With this recognition, the town of Chavín de Huántar, located in Áncash, became the second charming town in the region, alongside the town of Chacas, which was included in the list at the end of 2024.
The authorities interpret the distinction as a national strategy to diversify tourism offerings and strengthen the cultural authenticity and identity of the host communities.
It should be noted that Mincetur continues to provide technical assistance to different regions of the country, with the aim of identifying and positioning new destinations that may be part of the initiative in the future.
Currently, the programme has 13 destinations that visitors can include in their itineraries to enjoy authentic experiences. MINCETUR continues to provide technical assistance to other regions with tourism potential, with a view to further expanding this network of outstanding destinations.
