Peru Enters the Top 10 Destinations for Business Tourism in the Americas
Peru continues to establish itself as a major hub for organizing international conferences, conventions, and events, after ranking among the top ten countries in the Americas in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector. This recognition reflects the country’s growth in attracting international events and its capacity to welcome visitors from diverse markets.
One of the most significant achievements is Lima’s ranking, which placed third among the continent’s cities with the highest level of business tourism activity. The Peruvian capital has strengthened its presence in this sector thanks to its hotel infrastructure, air connectivity, culinary offerings, and diverse range of experiences that complement business travel.
This recognition is the result of coordinated efforts between public sector institutions, such as MINCETUR and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPerú), and private sector stakeholders, who have worked to promote the country as a host for international events.
In addition to the Lima region, destinations such as Cusco, Arequipa, Piura, Chiclayo, Juliaca, and Puno show growing potential to host conferences and conventions, expanding the national offering for this segment.
MICE tourism represents a significant opportunity for the Peruvian economy, as attendees at these events tend to spend more than other visitor groups. Likewise, many visitors return later with the intention of exploring more attractions, contributing to the development of tourism in different regions of the country.
With this recognition, Peru reaffirms its position as a competitive destination in Latin America for hosting international events, driving not only tourism but also the exchange of knowledge, investments, and business opportunities.
