Mincetur Launches New Digital Platform to Promote Community-Based Tourism in Peru
In order to connect visitors with authentic and sustainable experiences, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) has unveiled a new website and digital catalog dedicated to community-based tourism. This initiative will allow users to explore, in a more dynamic and accessible way, a variety of tourism offerings developed by local communities across different regions of the country.
The platform brings together experiences that allow visitors to interact with the customs, traditions, and ways of life of the host communities, promoting more responsible and enriching tourism. Through this digital space, travelers will be able to access detailed information about activities, attractions, and services available at each destination.
A digital catalog has been designed for tour operators and travel agencies, with the aim of strengthening the promotion and marketing of community-based tourism experiences. This tool seeks to increase the visibility of these tourism products and facilitate their inclusion in national and international tourism offerings. It also aims to facilitate their integration into national and international tourism offerings and help attract new customers.
The community-based tourism approach has become an important alternative for driving local development, as it generates economic opportunities for communities and contributes to the conservation of cultural and natural heritage. Furthermore, it responds to the growing demand from visitors interested in including authentic and genuine experiences in their travel itineraries, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding through direct contact with or exposure to the identity of the host communities.
With this new digital strategy, Peru continues to strengthen its tourism offerings and promote experiences that combine culture, sustainability, and community involvement, benefiting both visitors and local communities.
