Peru to Host the 128th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council
Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism announced that the country will host the 128th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council during the first half of 2027. The Council is one of the most important international bodies responsible for guiding tourism policies and strategic decision-making worldwide.
Hosting this event reflects significant recognition of Peru’s achievements and growing role within the tourism sector and will bring together government authorities, tourism specialists, and representatives from member states to discuss strategies aimed at promoting a more sustainable, competitive, and inclusive tourism industry.
Peru’s selection as the host country also highlights the growth of the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector. Events of this scale contribute to higher hotel occupancy rates, support restaurants, transportation companies, and tourism-related services, while also creating opportunities to attract future international events of similar importance.
Serving as the host of such a prestigious gathering will further enhance Peru’s international visibility by showcasing its cultural, natural, and gastronomic wealth to delegations from around the world. It will also provide opportunities to strengthen institutional partnerships, encourage investment, and reinforce the country’s reputation as a suitable destination for hosting major international events.
With this appointment, Peru continues to strengthen its presence on the global tourism stage and reaffirms its commitment to tourism as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and the promotion of its diverse destinations.
