A total of 104 families from the native communities of Mencoriari, Shora de Alto Coriri and Etzoniari Alto Crotishiari of the Pangoa district, in the department of Junín, produce special coffee under the shade of the trees in perfect harmony with the ecosystem, with the support of the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (SERFOR) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.
The SERFOR Forestry Program, through its Public Investment Project (PIP), provides support to these communities to strengthen the coffee value chain in order to offer the market a quality, competitive product with cultural identity and in balance with the forest.
The production of special coffee under native agroforestry systems is carried out in an area of 79.5 hectares and benefits economically, socially and environmentally the families of the native communities of Satipo province, in Junín, area of VRAEM. Currently, they produce various presentations of coffee, including parchment coffee, exportable green gold coffee and ground roasted coffee.
Thanks to the support of the SERFOR Forestry Program, the communities formed the Central Association of Agro-Ecological Producers Sinchiri Pangoa (the word “Sinchiri” means “strong” in the Nomatsiguenga language), which will allow them to develop the brand of their products, manage health records , participate in national and international fairs and events.
