
Machu Picchu leads Peru’s tourism in the first two months of 2025
Machu Picchu continues to consolidate as the main tourist destination in Peru, registering more than 190,000 visitors in the first two months of 2025
For months from January to May, the export of fresh fruits and vegetables reached the sum of US $ 1,222 million, as reported by the Association of Agricultural Producers’ Guilds of Peru (AGAP). In addition, he noted that Europe, North America and Asia were the three main destination markets for fresh fruits and vegetables of Peruvian origin with US $ 513 million, US $ 447 million and US $ 172 million respectively.
The main products exported were grapes with US $ 357 million, followed by avocados with US $ 278 million and mango with US $ 179 million. In the case of cranberry and citrus, both products recorded considerable growth of 69% and 9%, compared to the first five months of 2018.
The organic banana also had an 8% drop in exports, with shipments of US $ 71 million, compared to US $ 77 million the previous year. Likewise, the fresh vegetables, the asparagus registered shipments for US $ 100 million, unlike the onions that had a growth of 3% (US $ 16 million), the garlic with 104% (US $ 7 million) and the peas with 80% (US $ 2 million). The ginger registered shipments for US $ 9 million.
The regions with the highest exports of fresh fruits and vegetables during the first five months of 2019 were Ica with US $ 437 million, Piura with US $ 249 million, La Libertad with US $ 194 million, Lima with US $ 140 million, Lambayeque with US $ 112 million and Ancash with US $ 57 million.
