Exports of Peruvian Avocados grew 9% during the first four months of the year

During the first four months of 2019, Peruvian avocado exports totaled US $ 141,870.00, which represented a 9% growth compared to 2018, when it reached US $ 130,641,000.

In a report by the Association of Exporters (ADEX), details were given that during the first quarter of the year the avocado was the third most important product of agricultural exports with added value, since it represents 7.8% of the total of the sector. 

In addition, it was indicated that out of a total of 25 destinations that came the avocado was the Netherlands with a total of US $ 72, 945,000, followed by Spain, United Kingdom, China, USA. UU, Russia, Hong Kong, Chile and Argentina.

And as a highlight, it was experienced that the markets that had a growth of more than 3 digits and exceeded the US $ 5 million in January -April, was the United States and China.

At the business level, it was highlighted that the exporters that led the dispatches were Camet Trading S.A.C., Plantaciones del Sol S.A.C., ASR Trading S.A.C., Incavo S.A.C., Alcoaxarquia Perú S.A.C., Consorcio de Frutas Lambayeque S.A.C., Asica Farms S.A.C., Agrícola Cerro Prieto S.A., Complejo Agroindustrial Beta S.A., Eurofresh Peru S.A.C., among others.

Income to Thailand will boost exports

Adex informed that during the last years the exports of Peruvian avocado increased due to the opening of new markets, one of the main ones are the Asian one, which an important factor is the entrance to the market of Thailand after an arduous negotiation of 8 years.

The Management of Agroexports of the business union detailed that the work of the National Service of Agrarian Health (Senasa), is of main importance to achieve the entrance to other countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Mexico, which is expected to materialize this year.

One of the factors that impacted the good development of this fruit abroad was the increase in crops. In 2018 about 32 thousand hectares were planted and it is forecast that by 2021 it would surpass 40 thousand hectares.

Another important factor is its promotion in business conferences and international fairs such as the Expoalimentaria that will take place from September 25 to 27 at the Jockey Exhibition Center in Lima; and the World Food Moscow 2019 to be held between September 24 and 27 at Crocus Expo IEC, Russia.
