Japan will donate over US$687,000 to Machu Picchu Interpretation Center

The Government of Japan will donate some US$687,400 for the implementation of a project to enhance equipment for exhibition at the Interpretation Center of Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary located in Urubamba Province (Cusco region).

It was reported on Friday by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which specified that sector’s head Allan Wagner and Japanese Ambassador Kazuyuki Katayama exchanged notes regarding this donation yesterday.

The Interpretation Center is located at the start of the Inca trail, in the sector known as Piscacucho, Urubamba Province.

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Japanese cooperation in the cultural sphere is of special relevance for Peru, as it complements the national efforts to preserve and publicize the protected natural area where the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu is located.

“This important contribution of Japan reflects the high level of relations and friendship that the Governments and peoples of both countries maintain,” it highlighted.
