Machu Picchu leads Peru’s tourism in the first two months of 2025
Machu Picchu continues to consolidate as the main tourist destination in Peru, registering more than 190,000 visitors in the first two months of 2025
The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Iquitos and the Amazon River became the new destinations with the Safe Travels seal, which guarantees the safety of visitors.
The list of safe tourist destinations keeps growing! This time it was the turn of the Loreto region with our wonderful Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Iquitos and the Amazon River, which received the Safe Travels seal, certifying that they meet all the standards of hygiene and biosafety in tourism activities in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Excellent news for the region and for national tourism!
If you wish to travel and visit Loreto, we remind you that the destinations with this recognition are four specific routes. Below, we detail the exact places that include the Safe Travels seal:
Route 1: Ancestral Culture (Port of Bellavista Nanay, Pilpintuwasi and Kukama Native Community).
Route 2: Adventure in the Amazon (Fundo Pedrito, Acatar EcoLodge and Monkey Island)
Route 3: City tours (Main Square, Main Church, Casa de Fierro, Ex Palace Hotel, Casa Fitzcarrald, Casa Morey, Malecón de Tarapacá, Ayapua 1906 Historical Ship Museum, Museum of Amazonian Indigenous Cultures, Casa Cohen, Iquitos Museum, Amazon Museum, Belen Market House, San Juan Artisan Market).
Route 4: Conservation and biodiversity (Quistococha Tourist Complex, Amazon Forever Biopark, Allpahuayo-Mishana National Reserve, City of Nauta, Pacaya Samiria National Reserve).
The Safe Travels seal not only assures travelers that the place they are visiting is safe and that it has the security measures efficiently in the current context, but it is also a symbol of hope for the regions that obtain this recognition. This is due to the reactivation of local tourist activity, which is so important for economic growth. Minister Cornejo explained that Mincetur has been carrying out several actions to support the sector, such as “Turismo Emprende”, in addition to providing training for artisans, and technical assistance to regional and local government officials in the framework of the reactivation of tourism.
It should be noted that there is a list of 105 regional companies that are already complying with the implementation of sanitary protocols and are eligible to obtain the seal.
If you are going to visit Loreto, remember to follow these safety recommendations that will help you have a more responsible trip with you, your family and the local population.
