Machu Picchu remains a talking point. This time the project called “Machu Picchu Carbon Neutral” received the “Green Awards 2022” certificate and is ranked among the top 500 worldwide.
It is worth mentioning that “Premios Verdes” is the most important sustainability festival that every year awards, gives visibility and creates networks among the best 500 social and environmental projects in Ibero-America.
“Machu Picchu Carbon Neutral” is ranked 54th in the “Premios Verdes” and 7th in the Education Category. The project was an initiative of the Municipality of Machu Picchu, whose main objective is the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of this area, achieving a 45% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and reaching zero emissions (carbon neutrality) by 2050.

Eduardo Noriega, an industrial engineer who is always looking for ways to generate opportunities in different business models that go beyond an economic deal and that, in turn, have an impact on nature and on improving people’s lives, especially on the resources that can be generated in his native Peru.
He is one of the national entrepreneurs who, together with “Cocreinnan”, is promoting opportunities in the food, cosmetics, sustainable fashion and bio-materials sectors – with the main focus on natural resources and using biodiversity to become ingredients in these sectors, helping farming and agricultural communities – to demonstrate that we do not need other “extra” resources, “we are our own mentors for business, if we do not have adequate knowledge and information, we waste our own value chain”, said Noriega.
