Peru will lead agro-exports in nine products in 2023
AGAP estimates that agro-exports will reach their peak next year and reach US$ 11,554 million. Shipments of Peruvian fruit and vegetables will reach US$ 10,000 million in 2022 …
Peru —as a country— won four awards in the South American edition of the World Travel Awards 2020, thus remaining a favorite among travelers visiting the region, Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported on Thursday.
This international competition —heralded by many as the “Oscars of the travel industry— named Machu Picchu as South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2020.
As is known, the emblematic Inca citadel has recently reopened its doors to national and foreign tourists after being closed for almost eight months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, it was awarded the world’s first ever global safety and hygiene stamp, known as “Safe Travels.”
Additionally, Peru won three additional accolades: South America’s Leading Cultural Destination 2020, South America’s Leading Green Destination 2020, and South America’s Leading Cruise Destination 2020.
The winners were announced on the Latin America Winners Day, an event that —unlike previous years— was held virtually.
Thanks to promotional activities in the adventure and nature-based tourism fields —carried out by PromPeru— the country has managed to stand out as South America’s Leading Green Destination, lining up the experiences sought by tourists nowadays: outdoor spaces where they can feel safe during their trip.
In this sense, thanks to its landscape and biological diversity, Peru has become the leader in the region.
The awards are given to the nominees who received the most votes on the website of the World Travel Awards. This year, the winners of the Grand Final 2020 will be announced on November 27.
