PeruRail announced the incorporation of HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresting) filters, an innovative air disinfection and purification system on board its tourist train services to Machu Picchu, to provide its passengers with a safer travel experience, prioritising the best and most modern biosecurity protocols.
“The HEPA filters allow the air inside the cars to be completely changed every 3 minutes, achieving a clean environment and eliminating 99.99% of viruses and bacteria,” said the railway company.
DISINFECTION STAGES
According to PeruRail, this innovative system purifies and renews the air in the trains and uses state-of-the-art technology with four disinfection phases:
1- HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresting) Filters + Activated Carbon: These clean the air passing through the filters and trap any pathogenic elements, achieving a clean and disinfected environment, also eliminating more than 90% of viruses or bacteria.
The air is completely changed every 15 minutes; it passes through HEPA filters, which manage to eliminate 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, including those that cause Covid-19. With this, they achieve pure and safe air, which complies with the strictest hygiene standards.
