Since October last year, Peru has received the safe travel seal as a biosecure destination in the citadel of Machu Picchu. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) has been in charge of banning the Safe Travels seal to different tourist destinations in our country. Today, 27 tourist destinations have already been certified:
Cusco
It has been the first destination to receive the Safe Travels seal, and the preamble was the opening of the Inca citadel Machu Picchu, after being closed for six months. This marked the beginning of our tourist reactivation.
The Sacred Valley of Cusco also received the seal in a ceremony held at the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Complex.
For adventure lovers, part of the Inca Trail, route N°5, which starts in the sector of Chachabamba, at kilometre 104 of the Ollantaytambo-Machupichu railway line, is now open.
